The most important VRS X Update so far with MLAT support
In my opinion this is the most important VRS X update I have ever made. Even there are some cool changes under the hood, I spent a lot of time on making MLAT working
NOTE:
Due to changes in the core, app will require re-activation.
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT SOME FEATURES MAY (but may not, lol) REQUIRE AIRCRAFT DATABASE TO BE RECREATED, BUT HEY! WE ARE IN BETA!
If you did some serious changes in the DB then sorry guys… Backups, backups, backups. Or update each aircraft manually and add "military" flag to it 😂. But yeah, enough jokes, notes and other bullshit. MEAT TIME!
Changes
ADMIN
- Add support for custom, user-provided operator logos, including support of bigger flags with smart downscale algorithm
- Add Virtual Radar Server database import with option to Overwrite or Merge the database (to keep its integrity)
- Add control whether aircraft trails should be stored from last 30 mins, 2 hours or 6 hours (depending on RAM availability)
- Add checkbox to make feed/merged feed visible/hidden on the map
- Normalized settings panes width, divided them into sections for better navigation
- Changed "Port 30003" format name to "BaseStation/Text"
- Add intelligent data type assignment:
- port 30003: [ADS-B] BaseStation/Text
- port 30005: [ADS-B] Beast/Binary
- port 30105: [MLAT] Beast/Binary – MLAT feed gets enabled automatically
- port 30106: [MLAT] BaseStation/Text – MLAT feed gets enabled automatically
- Option to add the new feed to the merged feed and control visibility of the given feed.
- Option to add your own plane pictures and assign them to the selected ICAO24 hex. Logic in short:
- If photo exists on the disk, it will be displayed (priority 0)
- If photo does not exist on the disk, photo from planespotters will be presented (priority 1)
- If there no photo anywhere, no image will be shown (priority 2)
RADAR
- Add smart clustering of aircraft while zoomed out to improve performance
- Add dedicated checkbox to filter out military planes on the map
- Changed Theme selector to drpdown for easier navigation
- Standarized map settings
- Bright maps: Added overlay to let user decide if the selected map should brighter or darker
- Dark map: Added a slider to let user decide if aircraft markers should brighter or darker (only planes without colors assigned)
- [COMMUNITY REQUEST] The ability to default the list to order by altitude, speed, flag, call sign etc instead of having it mixed as is currently
- [COMMUNITY REQUEST] User can decide if they want to keep aircraft colours which have been changed that colour when selected. i.e. green would stay green when selected or default to yellow
- [COMMUNITY REQUEST] Aircraft route presents full airport names below its ICAO codes.
- Some easter eggs out there… Explore & Enjoy!
GENERAL
- New "Futuristic" theme
- Emergency squawks support:
- Plane is places on the first position in the table, its row is red
- Plane gets red on the map and blinks with frequency 1/sec
- Information below the marker is red
- After clicking on the plan, the emergency squawk is being shown with squawk code and description
- The side panel is red and shows current information
MOBILE VERSION
- Sidebar with aircraft list is hidden by default, but can be extended upon clicking on the button
- Aircraft into panel has been redesigned to be more mobile-friendly (a scrollable banner using 1/3 of the screen height)
Fixes
- (Hopefully) FINAL AND DEFINITIVE MLAT FIX (🍺)
- Fix issue with no trails available on radar frontend
- Fix units normalization in labels tab on radar frontend
- Fix "CLASSIC" theme
- Fix issue with overlapping merges. Now feeds have numeric identifiers while merged feeds have identifiers starting with M, for exampple
- 1: Feed 1
- 2: Feed 2
- M1: Merge of feed 1 and 2
Known bugs
- Operator logo assignment does not properly. Current logic is based on callsign instead of operator ICAO code.
Has AI been used in this released?
Yep, I am not gonna hide it. AI (GPT-5.3-CODEX to be clear) helped me a lot with MLAT issues and some other problems I was dealing with. Even I was going around in circles with MLAT, after paying 20$ for AI, the issue is finally over. This is where money from Patrons go!
